Our Government and You

6 Votes.

That was the margin of victory of Iowa District 2 Representative Mariannette Miller-Meeks in 2020. In an election which had over 390,000 votes, she won by 6. It was one of the closest House races in a century. This election is one of many - and we mean many - races that were decided by impossibly small margins. Voting always matters - we'll explain why below.

Why Your Vote Matters

Your Voice is Heard

Want to see change in your community? Vote for a candidate that aligns with your views! Voting is the best way of ensuring your interests are heard. There are hundreds of candidates to choose from in every presidential election.

You Can Decide a Close Race

Given that today's political environment is so gridlocked, your individual vote makes a difference. Whether it's the presidency or the school board, your vote could very well help to decide an election.

It is a Tenet of Democracy

In our governing system, voter participation is tantamount to success. With voting, we can make real democratic change.

"Nonviolence is a powerful and just weapon, which cuts without wounding and ennobles the man who wields it. It is a sword that heals.” - Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Peaceful protests and marches are a great way of having your voice heard in a communal setting.
